Welcome to my world of animation! I'm Albert Rubio Colomer, a passionate animator, mentor, and storyteller. With over 20 years in the animation industry, I've had the joy of bringing characters to life and sharing stories that resonate with audiences worldwide. Here, I invite you to explore my journey, experiences, and the driving forces behind my work.
My adventure in animation began in Barcelona. From a young age, I was fascinated by the magic of animation, and this passion guided me to pursue a career where imagination meets art. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with industry giants like Walt Disney Animation Studios and DreamWorks Animation, contributing to films that have touched hearts and inspired minds.
Career Highlights:
Walt Disney Animation Studios (April 2022 - July 2023): Here, I delved into creating enchanting and dynamic characters, contributing to the vibrant worlds of "Strange World" , "Wish" and the shortfilm "Once Upon A Time".
DreamWorks Animation (February 2011 - April 2022): My journey at DreamWorks was filled with learning and creativity, where I worked on projects like "Kung Fu Panda 3", "Boss Baby". "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" and "Bad Guys".
Teaching and Mentoring: Since June 2016, I've been sharing my knowledge and experience with aspiring animators at U-tad, fostering the next generation of creative minds.
One of the most memorable moments of my career was being invited to the prestigious Oscars ceremony. It was an honor to attend this iconic event, celebrating the success of "Windshield Wiper," directed by the talented Alberto Mielgo. Winning the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film was not just a personal triumph but a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. The experience of celebrating this incredible achievement together that night is something I will cherish forever.Â
To me the animation is not just about creating visually stunning pieces; it's about storytelling, emotion, and connecting with the audience on a deeper level. Each character I animate carries a piece of a larger narrative, a slice of a world that viewers can immerse themselves in. My goal is always to infuse each project with heart, creativity, and a touch of magic.
Looking ahead, I am excited about the endless possibilities in animation. I aim to continue exploring new techniques, storytelling methods, and mentoring future animators to keep the magic of animation alive.
